Ingredients:
Dumplings:
4 cups of flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tablespoons butter
Broth:
1 De-boned chicken
1 can cream if chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom
2 cans milk (use cream of mushroom can)
Prep:
-add whole chicken, chicken broth, and water(enough to cover chicken) in stock pot
-cook chicken for 1 hour or until done
-reserve liquid
-de-bone the chicken and throw bones away
Dumplings:
-mix dry ingredients
-cut butter into flour
-add milk
-mix into ball
-roll on well-floured waxed paper with flour on top of dough also
-cut into strips
-take half of the broth that you cooked the chicken in and add to stock pot with the broth ingredients
-bring to a boil (stove should be on 4-5) stirring constantly (to prevent milk from scorching)
-add cooked chicken
-once the broth has come to a boil add dumplings one by one, pushing each one down
-the broth should boil over the dumplings and cook for 10 minutes
-add salt and pepper to taste
-serve in bowl with fresh ground pepper on top

ReplyDeletei am so impressed that you do the cut dumplings! almost everyone i have ever seen does the drop dumplings thought my family did it the wrong way! yummmm.
